The Cetamura Excavations have been undertaken by students and researchers of the Florida State University since 1973, and document an archaeological excavation on the hill of Cetamura del Chianti, a site in the Italian mountains of Tuscany about 30 kilometers northeast of Siena and 60 kilometers southeast of Florence. Evidence of habitation at the site spans from the Etruscan, to Roman, to medieval periods, and represents an important waypoint on the trade routes between Florence, Siena, and points further abroad. The site is composed of two Zones: Zone I, which contains an Etruscan well, evidence of Roman baths, and a medieval castle, while Zone II is made up of an Etruscan sanctuary and artisan's complex.
This collection captures various archival material of the excavations, including trench photographs, excavation documentation, and records of the research experience and history of the project.
