The Dr. Robert “Bob” Pierce Harris Photography Collection is part of the Papers of Dr. Robert P. Harris, stored in the Archives of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. The 146 black-and-white photographs date mostly from around the 1940s, when Dr. Harris was the medical director of the Greatest Show on Earth. A significant portion of photographs capture circus performers, either in the midst of their performances or posing for portraits. Circus officers are also shown. Dr. Harris himself features in 19 of the photos, and 10 bear autographs signed to him, and his wife Lula, from friends in the circus.
