The Tibbals Circus Collection of International Newspapers is a series in the Tibbals Circus Collection of Serials. From the newspapers in this collection, a virtual clipping collection has been created, drawing from over 150 different newspapers dating from 1685– 1907. Approximately three quarters are British, many of them coming from London or Edinburgh. This collection was assembled because of the circus and circus related information they hold.
The content of the clippings is diverse. Articles, advertisements, editorials, and more are represented. Two-thirds of the clippings are not directly about the circus, but rather cover related topics. Of those that are directly circus-related, most are advertisements. Advertisements range in scope from a few sentences or fragments in plain text to elaborate back-page ads with numerous illustrations.
