Trio for Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano is a three movement piece which utilizes aspects of sonata form. As a woodwind player myself, I took special care to write idiomatically for the clarinet and bassoon. The role of the piano is much more than that of accompanying—it's been carefully integrated with the other instruments. The third movement reprises material from the first and second movements in its coda to bring a sense of cyclicality to the work.
