Boni writes to Giulia Kortischoner, telling her about how proud he is that she has survived so much with such well-earned maturity and composure. He regrets that he will not be able to meet her at the border between Austria and Switzerland before her departure for the United States. He describes the destruction in Vienna after the war and the rations and also discussed Austria's occupation, saying, "All the nations have sent their soldiers to Vienna."
