Giulia Kortischoner asks Mia Hasterlik to exchange her tickets to the US for a later date and tells her that she sent her Christmas presents for Mia with a Turkish student she knows who is going to the US. She gives updates on her relationship with Anton and Stux, another lover. She then says that she is saving up goods to send to Lisl Urbantisch in Vienna, where the conditions are very bad, despite the sentiments among some individuals in Swizerland that rations should not be sent to their "'enemies' who deserve to starve to death."
