Shelia is an artist and educator who discusses art as a collaborative, political process that gives people voice, as opposed to a commercial enterprise. Sheila also discusses her time as an activist during the AIDS crisis, during which she helped obtain and distribute drugs to treat Kaposi's sarcoma through People With AIDS. She observes differences between the AIDS crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in terms of organization and mobilization, or lack thereof. She ends the interview in discussion of her fears for the younger queer generations regarding ongoing oppression and lack of resources, especially for those who live at intersections of oppression.
