Brae Young
Say it in 6: "Cultivating and spreading knowledge." Brae Young is pursuing a PhD in criminology at Florida State University. Much of her research, including her dissertation, has focused on understanding how family-related factors may improve the lives of incarcerated youth. One question she is exploring in her dissertation is whether visitation reduces recidivism among incarcerated juvenile offenders. She has been asked to present her work on juvenile visitation to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and other organizations comprised of policy-makers and researchers. After graduation, Brae hopes to obtain a position as an assistant professor where she will continue to teach undergraduate students and pursue her research interests.
