Her research focus is public policy, which comports well with her full-time job at the Division of Florida Colleges, where she is Director of Student Leadership for the Florida College System. Jhenai hails from Jersey City, NJ, but after coming to Florida State for her undergraduate degree she remained in Tallahassee. She eventually began a graduate program at Florida A&M University before transferring to Florida State. Jhenai and her ""awesome"" husband Devaris have two children, Madison (10) and Devaris, Jr. (5). Jhenai has enjoyed her time at Florida State and has benefitted from university resources and the camaraderie of working alongside other minority women in her doctoral program. "
