Jorge is a PhD student in Florida State's Philosophy Department. He was drawn to Florida State by two philosophers with whom he wanted to work, Professors Michael Bishop and Michael Ruse. The crux of Jorge's research is well-being: his work is relevant for understanding what well-being is, what it is not, and how to achieve it. He sees this as important not only for personal reflection but also for determining public policy. In fact, Jorge pursues his research in an effort to generate knowledge that can and will have a positive impact on peoples' lives. He recommends graduate school as a way to learn, develop skills, and expand one's horizons, but also advocates for balance between work and relaxation.
