Mark Silver
"Say it in 6: ""Only immortal for a limited time."" Mark Silver is pursuing his doctoral degree (PhD) in Inorganic Chemistry at the Florida State University College of Arts & Sciences. Attributing it to his grandfather, whose work in the Pacific atolls provided data for military scientists before the Cold War, research involving nuclear materials is something that Mark has been inconspicuously committed to throughout his entire life. Being awarded the Department of Energy external fellowship, has allowed him to pursue research at several institutions, including the National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford and the Institute für Nukleare Entsorgung in Karlsruhe, Germany. Mark hopes to obtain a postdoctoral position, followed by conversion to staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratories, a facility recognized for heavy element researchers and scientific achievement in nuclear chemistry.
