Keanan Joyner
Say it in 6: "Grants = gambling time + ideas for money." Keanan is pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Florida State, where his research looks at the etiology of psychological disorders. He hopes his work may be of help in effective treatments. Keanan received a Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship to fund his program, and is committed to Ford's mission: he sees the effective mentorship of minority students as a key mechanism for establishing equity in the science disciplines. The Ford Fellowship has provided Keanan time and resources to pursue such mentorship as he also develops as a researcher hoping to work in a professorial role in the future. Keanan chose Florida State because of its dynamic and collaborative Psychology Department and the variety of research methods available here.
