The study of religion at Florida State University is located squarely in the tradition of humanities scholarship. Our faculty represent a wide range of research orientations, including American Religious History, Religions of Western Antiquity, History and Ethnography of Religions, Religion, Ethics and Philosophy, and our programs operate in close collaboration with several other departments and programs at the University.
Florida State University was one of the first state universities in the nation to offer graduate study in Religion and today the Department of Religion continues to play a leading role, nationally and internationally, in advancing the academic study of religion.
