Description (Abstract)

This broadside protests the circuluation of a letter by John Henry Hopkins, Bishop of the Diocese of Vermont, which supports slavery as an institution. The broadside was produced in Philadelphia, PA, September, 1863, and is signed by 104 Episcopal churchmen (bishops, rectors, prevosts, and professors of Divinity Schools) in Pennsylvania at the time.
