Gabriel dos Passos Gomes
Say it in 6: "Pushing the boundaries of mankind's knowledge." Gabriel was always curious. Though he didn't grow up around scientists, a desire to understand the world was always there. He thus became the first in his family to attend college, earning a B.S. in Chemistry from The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2008. As an undergraduate, Gabriel worked on Electrophilic Aromatic Nitration in a chemistry lab, managed one of CERN's supercomputing clusters, and studied at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. In 2014 Gabriel came to Florida State through the Latin American Student Education and Research (LASER) program, and returned to pursue a PhD in Chemistry. Gabriel has won an IBM PhD Scholarship, been a Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting attendee, and published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications.
