Jacob Lollar
"Say it in 6: "Bringing lost histories back to life." Jacob Lollar earned his PhD in Religions of Western Antiquity at Florida State. He spent a semester of his last year on a Chateaubriand Fellowship in Paris, looking at little-studied Syriac manuscripts housed there. Jacob's research concentrates on Christians who lived 1,600 years ago in what is now Turkey and the culture and literature they produced. His work involves translating some texts for the first time, and working in sources little-known to scholars. In particular, he wrote his dissertation on a text for which he hopes to produce the critical edition. His research touches several themes, including conceptions of refugeeism and how we understand the dynamics of religion as it affects refugees and the integration of groups into new societies. "
