Rasheda Haughbrook
Say it in 6: "Breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings." Rasheda has always been interested in understanding what makes us who we are and how our environments shape our outcomes. Her PhD in Developmental Psychology at Florida State has pursued this question by studying genetic and environmental factors influencing student achievement, focusing primarily on twin samples. She hopes to examine factors affecting achievement and outcomes in minority and low socioeconomic status communities to help identify risks and implement protective factors to encourage success. Rasheda received the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship, and the McKnight network has provided her with a valuable community of researchers that can relate to her, her process, and the issues she may face as a woman of color. She aims to become a research professor and effective mentor.
