Karissa Dieseldorf Jones
"Say it in 6: "Inspiring others to explore our world." Karissa is pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and an MBA in the College of Business at Florida State. She is currently exploring genetic heart disease in the lab of Dr. Jose Renato Pinto. An NIH F31 grant has allowed Karissa more flexibility to study a therapeutic target with the potential to extend significantly and to better the lives of those living with a particular genetic mutation that threatens the lives of young athletes and children. Karissa's future career goal includes pursuing science in and out of the lab. She wants to increase the frontier of scientific knowledge through research and outreach, and the latter she does through the organization SciWorld, where students learn to be curious about their world.
