Patrice Williams
"Say it in 6: "Freedom to focus on what matters." Patrice is pursuing her PhD in Urban & Regional Planning at Florida State. She hopes that this degree will help her improve neighborhoods with a high proportion of minorities and low-income residents, which generally face higher rates of exposure to environmental hazards, lower food security and healthy food options, and inaccessibility to health care services. Her desire to effect this change comes from personal experience: when a diagnosis made it necessary for Patrice to pursue exercise and healthy diet, she found that in her neighborhood this was difficult, with healthy food options and space for exercise miles away. Patrice was named a Health Policy Research Scholar, joining a program which develops national leadership in community health amongst second-year PhD students. "
